Flexible sigmoidoscopy is a short version of colonoscopy where only a small part of your colon (Rectum and Sigmoid colon) is examined. While not routinely performed, this is a procedure sometimes offered to investigate problems suspected to be arising from that part of your colon.
This may also be performed when Botox injection or hemorrhoidal banding is planned for treatment of certain ano-rectal problems.
